About Sakujirō

At Osumikaihin Koen, amidst the full bloom of the Kawazu cherry blossoms, one can also catch a glimpse of “Sakujirō.” Sakujirō is a term crafted from the combination of “Mejiro” (Japanese White-eye) and “Sakura” (cherry blossoms), referring to the delightful scene of Japanese White-eyes feeding on the nectar from cherry blossoms.

The Japanese White-eye is an incredibly sociable bird, and during the peak cherry blossom season, these tiny birds can be seen flitting energetically from flower to flower, avidly sipping nectar. This natural spectacle provides a unique and lively addition to the breathtaking views of cherry blossoms in full bloom, embodying the vibrant interaction between wildlife and the fleeting beauty of spring.
